DARPA digitally manufactured several complex structures and conducted a series of structural load tests upon them. Data from the manufacture and load tests were posted at their website. Participants were challenged to develop a correlation model that accurately correlates DM machine inputs to output structural test data. Participant models were evaluated by their ability to predict the test results of the final DM structures. Greystones Group final round estimates submitted in the DMACE Challenge were a result of symbolic regression optimization applied to a set of data modeling functions.

Duffy, President Greystones Group, was honored with an invitation by the Command and General Staff College Foundation (CGSCF) to participate in the National Security Roundtable (NSRT). The purpose of the NSRT is to provide an opportunity for business leaders to interact with the future leaders of the U.S. Army in an academic setting and learn about contemporary national security issues. The NSRT was conducted November 30 – December 01, 2009 in the Lewis and Clark Center, home of the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.

The NSRT kicked off with a reception in the Lewis and Clark Center which was highlighted by a briefing from Lt. General Ben Freakley. The next day, participants had the opportunity to take part in seminar groups with the School of Advance Military Studies (SAMS) student escorts, hear a detailed analysis about U.S. operations in Afghanistan, and sit in on a presentation by Ambassador Ryan Crocker. The NSRT concluded with remarks by the Acting Commandant Brigadier General Ed Cardon and presentations of Certificates of Completions to each of the participants.

“Participating in the NSRT was an important opportunity highlighting how vital it is for individuals and the business community to be aware of, take part in and support the mission of the NSRT and the CGSCF,” said Sheila Duffy.

About the National Security Roundtable
